The things I dedicate my time to as part of my self-healing routine

The priorities in a healing journey

Recovery has shifted my priorities, pushing that focus to the forefront and replacing activities I used to spend a lot of time on. I’ve cut back on evening scrolling, discovering how much it drained me emotionally and how negative and destructive it made me feel, with meal prepping or writing posts for this blog.

I’ve swapped procrastination for clarity, establishing routines, organizing my tasks, and practicing good sleep hygiene. Now, I stop using screens and dim the lights about two hours before bed.

I’ve replaced stress with meditation and a sense of calm, creating a much more peaceful mindset.

I’ve also replaced most late-night walks with my dog with a consistent sleep schedule, which supports my body’s healing process and is incredibly important. I’ve started waking up at sunrise to soak in that vital morning light and calmly prepare for the day, instead of waking just ten minutes before needing to leave, hurriedly eating without properly chewing, and stressing over the clock.

This healing journey has helped reshape me into my true self, especially in how I perceive and handle stress, influencing my organization and daily routines.

Ultimately, I realize this is only the beginning. There’s still so much I need to learn and grow through on this path.

It's often said, and wisely so, that to break a bad habit, you need to replace it with a good one—and that’s exactly what I’ve done.
